There are perhaps few precedents in the world when outside countries insist on changing the name of a whole independent country. In the case of Macedonia, which, at the request of Greece, held a referendum on the topic “should we not change Macedonia to Northern Macedonia”, - the situation is glaring.

Pro-American Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, supported by a pro-American liberal lobby and still a national minority - Albanians, leads the country to a political, religious, national, and culturological impasse. The state of Macedonia for free that the actual neoplasm. Being such, without understanding their national identity and trying to overcome a lot of problems in the interethnic area, the Macedonian state is somewhat reminiscent of Ukraine or the Baltic border countries. In an effort to get into the European Union and NATO, the Macedonian officials, this must be particularly emphasized - not the people, but the pro-Western liberals - are ready to go for anything, just to touch the sweet European pie with their teeth. Moreover, they were taught nothing by the experience of Bulgaria, a country related to the ethnic composition of the Macedonian-Slavs, who received from the EU and NATO only status and a salary of 250 euros in Sofia, which is considered to be good.

However, as a result, a referendum in Macedonia was declared invalid. A little more than 30 percent of the population came to vote, and according to the laws of the state, referendum decisions with a turnout below 50 percent are considered invalid. But for those who are trying to drag Macedonia into NATO, the figure of 90 percent of those who came to vote for changing the name of the country to Northern Macedonia is important. And not a turnout figure.

Pro-American media and politicians of a small Balkan country, be sure, obtypyapayut event in such a way that the main thing will be the number of voters. Contrary to the will of the indigenous majority of the state - the Macedonian-Slavs. And the English, German, American and Albanian press already unequivocally speaks about this.

In Macedonia, which is not a secret to anyone, the main driving force aimed at renaming this country is the ethnic minority - the Albanians. But this is still the Albanians - an ethnic minority. However, taking into account the birth rate in Albanian families, as well as migration to Macedonia from neighboring Kosovo and Albania itself, in a dozen years, and maybe earlier, Albanians will become the majority. This has already happened in the unfortunate Kosovo, where the indigenous inhabitants of the region - the Serbs - were first overtaken in the demographic bend, and then driven out of the heart of Serbia.

Currently, in Kosovo, only in the north, in Kosovo Mitrovica, and in one tiny enclave in the south of the region, Serbs still live, being in constant fear for their lives. Without work, but with faith in their strength.

In Macedonia, the situation is developing at the same threatening pace. North of Macedonia, the Macedonians themselves are considered lost to the Slavs. In the ancient city of Tetovo, founded by the Serbs in the XIII century, out of 50 thousand inhabitants about 30 thousand are Albanians and only 18 thousand are Macedonians. In the old Gostivar, out of 35 thousand inhabitants, 16 thousand are Albanians and only 11 thousand are Macedonians. In Kichevo, Albanians are slowly catching up on the demographics of the Slavs.

In the third largest number of Kumanovo. Here live 40 thousand Macedonians and 20 thousand Albanians, between whom fights and shooting regularly take place, and in 2015 there was a massacre in Kumanovo between the Macedonian army and special forces, on the one hand, and Albanian militants, who arrived from Kosovo, on the other.

The capital of the Republic of Skopje is divided by the Vardar River into two parts. In one live mainly - but not only - the Macedonians and Serbs. In the other, on the side of the ancient fortress of Skopje - Kale, where in 1346 the Serbian king Stephen Dusan was crowned king of the Serbs and Greeks, live exclusively Albanians. And Orthodox Slavs, without extreme need, do not go to the other side of Vardar.

In Skopje, the national composition is on the side of the Macedonians. Of the half a million inhabitants, 60 percent, and Albanian Muslims, 30 percent. Conflicts and skirmishes regularly occur between Slavs and Albanians. Over the past 10-15 years, an ever-increasing Albanian population has been knocking out big rights. Albanians already have one third in the Macedonian parliament, they have several influential parties - the DUI, Besa and Alliance for Albanians, as well as the ADP. They are increasingly demanding that the Albanian language be recognized as the second state language. And they are the main beneficiaries of renaming the country. Because Albanians demand a revision of the history of Macedonia as a whole, pointing to the fact that its present territory has been part of the Ottoman Empire for centuries. And because the Albanians, through a split in the Balkan lands, continue to cherish the idea of ​​Great Albania.

“Great Albania will begin with the death of little Macedonia,” say the ideologists of this formation. It is the Albanian parties and movements that insist on the federalization of the state. If it ever happens, the whole north of the country will become mono-ethnic, and that will prevent this part, already densely populated by Albanians, from separating from Macedonia or becoming part of Kosovo, which, in turn, along with the southern parts of Serbia wants to be part of Albania?

As practice shows, there is nothing impracticable in this - with the help of the Albanian factor, Yugoslavia, Serbia has already been dismembered, an “independent Kosovo” has been formed, which was recognized by most of the EU and Washington. Tensely in the Albanian suburbs of Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro - this is so that the crucian remembers the pike. In the XX and XXI centuries, the Albanians became a real Trojan horse for the Balkans, pursuing a policy of disengagement and supported by the US in almost everything.

Actually, the number of voters in the referendum is exactly the percentage of Albanians, plus political suicides from among Slavic liberals, grant-eaters and simply unwise people who support the policy of Zoran Zayev who joined them.

Macedonians against national shame

Orthodox Macedonians, right-wing politicians and football fans of Macedonia, as they can, oppose the insane policy of pro-Westerners. But they do not have so many influential lobbyists. Their activities are not supported by Western grants aimed at “democratization of society”.

If Macedonia is renamed, a revision of the country's history will begin.

Macedonia As mentioned earlier, the country has invented a story for itself and even a language that makes it related to Ukraine. For centuries, the current territory of the country owned by the Greeks, Serbs, Bulgarian kings, Ottomans. At the end of the 19th century, almost at the same time as in Ukraine, ideologists of political Macedonian appeared on these lands. Although it would be more correct to designate a large part of the Slavic population of these regions as Bulgarians. The current famous Macedonian surnames - Peev, Zayev, Popov, Starchev, Panchev - very much resemble Bulgarian surnames. In the 20th century, surnames appeared with the end of “ski” or “wski”: Stavrevski, Shumulikoski and others, who had already adopted the Macedonian flavor. But the basis of the Macedonian language is still Bulgarian.

Creating a new national identity, the Macedonians write a new story. If Ukrainian ideologues abandoned everything Russian in their history, or Ukrainians attributed famous poets, writers, architects, and leaders of the Russian Empire and USSR, then the ideologues of Macedonia "took" the heroes of the ancient world - Philip and Alexander the Great. And along with them, the whole history of ancient Macedonia with all the conquests of Tsar Alexander the Great, as far as India. This was a stumbling block in relations with Greece, which reasonably believes that ancient Macedonia, Greek, was located on the territory of the three present Greek provinces with the names Macedonia!

While the political leaders of the countries argued and fought in the press and in the political fields, the capital of Macedonia, Skopje, was literally filled with statues of Philip, Alexander and many other heroes of antiquity. These monuments are very beautiful, monumental, which have become the hallmark of Skopje and the whole country. They are located a few hundred meters from the very bridge across Vardar, connecting the Albanian and Slavic quarters. And the Albanians have repeatedly desecrated monuments and historical memory. Once again, because in their vision in Macedonia there is another story connected with the empire of the Ottomans and the ancient Illyrians, which is disputed by many historians.

The worst thing that awaits the Macedonians, if NATO lobbyists push the idea of ​​renaming the country, is a revision of national identity. Greece requires that the monuments in Skopje and throughout the country have a postscript that these are heroes of ancient Greece. The state mythology will also crack - it turns out that both Philip and his son, the conqueror of the Universe, are not Macedonians, but “Northern Macedonians,” if they want to continue to uphold the myth that these historical figures were born and lived here.

In general, the situation for the indigenous people of the country is not seen as the most optimistic. By making concessions to other countries, the official Skopje can push the country into NATO for the sake of absolutely mythical preferences. Macedonia is one of the poorest countries in Europe, and the example of Bulgaria, but what to say - Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia - shows that sensual touches to the foot of Brussels did not make these countries prosperous and well fed. And Macedonia can lose both honor, and history, and national identity.
