R.I.P. Multiculturalism

R.I.P. Multiculturalism

Long Live Multiculturalism

R.I.P. Multiculturalism

French president Nicholas Sarkozy has joined British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in announcing the failure of multiculturalism.

Sarkozy went a bit further than his colleagues:

"We have been too concerned about the identity of the person who was arriving and not enough about the identity of the country that was receiving him."

Very true.

If the French, British, and Germans had been concerned about preserving their historic national identities, they never would have embarked on the suicidal policies of multiculturalism and mass immigration in the first place.

Muslims have settled in Western Europe because they want to reap the benefits of Western security and economic prosperity. They have not come to Europe to become decadent libertines. Unchecked immigration from the Muslim world will only recreate Turkey in Germany, Pakistan in Britain, and North Africa in France.

What does President Sarkozy propose to do about the growing unassimilated Muslim minority in France? He said the French people don't want to see Muslims praying in "an ostentatious way" in the street.

The plan seems to be to create an attractive national identity that Muslims will want to assimilate to - what David Cameron calls "muscular liberalism" - ban a few symbolic things like burkas and then hope the Muslim minority will integrate into mainstream society. That way everyone in France can go back to sleep and Europe can snooze into its utopian liberal future.

Geert Wilders is the only European politician who seems to have seriously thought about the long term consequences of this type of willful neglect.

If the Muslims keep coming and the Dutch keep aborting their children and emigrating abroad, then eventually a tipping point will be reached wherein the Netherlands (and later Western Europe) will be transformed into Eurabia.

I don't see much to crow about in the conversion of these mainstream politicians. Merkel, Cameron, and Sarkozy might denounce multiculturalism, but they don't seem inclined to address the problem in a serious way.

Similarly, Barack Obama is against "illegal immigration" if you take his rhetoric at face value, but his policies show otherwise.

Still, this is at least a hopeful sign that grassroots pressure is on the rise in Europe and a positive indication that at some point down the road the peoples of Europe will rid themselves of the spineless politicians, take matters into their own hands, and do what needs to be done to secure their own destinies.
