- Assessing the existing information from the media, can we say that Tsarnaevs' guilt in committing a terrorist act in Boston is obvious?

Mark Sleboda: While the guilt of the Tsarnaev brothers in being responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings may seem self-evident to most people from the narrative of events that the government and mainstream media have put forth, the US like most countries, operates on the legal principle of guilty until proven innocent. Until proven guilty of these crimes in a court of law (hopefully a civilian court of law and not a military show trial) with the presentation of sufficient evidence, they are presumed innocent. Personally, I think there are many holes and inconsistencies in the narrative of events put forth by the authorities and the mainstream media that must be addressed and answered.

As of writing, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, a naturalized American citizen, has not yet been read his Miranda rights or been charged with any crime under a legally dubious ‘public safety’ exemption that has been expanded and abused by the Obama administration under the rationale of interrogating suspects for ‘critical intelligence’. Some neoconservative politicians are calling for Dzhokar Tsarnaev to de declared an ‘enemy combatant’ so that he receives no legal due process, and others have even openly called for him to be tortured. This is all extremely disturbing for anyone concerned with the rule of law in the United States.

- In general in the USA there is a widespread perception of the Chechens as victims who suffered from the Russians in both Chechen wars. There are people sympathetic to them among the professors as well. For example, Bryan Williams, a professor at the University of Massachusetts sent to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev material on, as he put it, "Russia's genocidal war on Chechen people". In this case, why did the Tsarnaevs turn their anger against the USA? Given Tsarnaevs' strong patriotic feelings should we consider, first of all, as radical Muslims or as Chechen nationalist, as applied to the terrorist act in Boston.

M.S: It is par for the course for Western politicians and academics to take an extremely unobjective and critical view of Russia and the Russian government due to latent Russophobia and self-righteous ethnocentrism, while at the same time hypocritically remaining silent and willfully ignorant of their own countries often far greater and more numerous crimes and human rights violations, both historical and those in the present day. Opprobrium over Russia’s actions in the two wars in Chechnya, while simultaneously whitewashing and seeing no equivalence in the West’s numerous and continuing crimes in the invasions and occupations of Iraq, and Afghanistan, regime change operations in Libya and Syria, and the continuing so-called ‘Global War on Terror’ is a prime example of this selective and subjective finger-pointing. Such is extremely unhelpful for international efforts to genuinely deal with the root causes of terrorism and extremism. Schadenfreude…

If the Tsarnaevs are guilty of the crimes they are suspected of as presented by the authorities it would seem that a strict reading of their Chechen ethnicity would have only a marginal influence on their neuroses and motivations. As Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov rightly noted, “They grew up and studied in the United States and their attitudes and beliefs were formed there. Any attempt to make a connection between Chechnya and the Tsarnaevs is in vain.” The Tsarnaev brothers spent most of their lives in Kyrgyzstan and the United States. If their lifestyle is any indication they obviously have only faded and vague emotional connections to their ethnic roots. If they are guilty of the crimes they are alleged to have committed, it would seem that the most likely motivation is Islamic fundamentalism and radicalization of a pernicious Wahhabist variety, occurring primarily over the internet. Tamerlan was recently in Russia, but he did not lash out in violence there against Russians. He committed an act of terror against the United States and against Americans, which he obviously had conflicted feelings about. With America’s ‘Global War on Terror’ commonly perceived by both Americans and the rest of the world as a hegemonic war against Islam, such an act is easily understood if not accepted. He is far from the first to do so and he will not be the last. The US’s bloody ‘Global War on Terror’ is a self-perpetuating one, breeding its own terrorists. The Tsarnaevs are a product of America and thus took out their religious and political frustrations on America.

- Republicans call on the authorities to treat Tsarnaev as a terrorist, not just criminal. In this context, what do you think about Guantanamo prison? Does its existence contribute to eradication of terrorism or quite the contrary?

M.S.: The Guantanamo Bay Gulag is a bleeding hole of crimes against humanity and egregious violations of international and domestic law. We can only hope, one day, that the American politicians and military leaders responsible, from both the Bush and Obama regimes, will be held accountable and receive justice. It is an embarrassment to the nation, which has tarnished the US’s international reputation and already questionable moral standing. It only causes more hatred and resentment against the US, spurring more violence and acts of terror.

- Recently in the USA, not long ago before the Boston tragedy, there was a series of shootings, when innocent people, including children, were killed. Thus could we say that Tsarnaevs were a sort of the society's product or did their Caucasian origin play a crucial role?

M.S.:The US does indeed have a terrible “culture” of violence, glamorized and normalized by Hollywood, video games, and the US’s global military Empire. It is perfectly reasonable to assume that this had at least as much, if not more of a role to play, as their remnant ethnicity, in motivating the Tsarnaev’s alleged crimes, considering that they spent much of their lives in the so-called ‘melting pot’ of the US, and very little of it in the Caucasus.

- What is your attitude to the right to bear and use a gun? After the shootings some American politicians increasingly began to demand its limitation. However, in Boston people were killed with the use of a self-made bomb. Should we focus so much on the means of committing a crime?

M.S.:I do not believe there is any inherent right to bear and use a gun, beyond limited hunting and sporting purposes. The US Constitution’s second amendment regarding regulated militias or armed forces has been badly abused and misinterpreted by special interest lobbies such as the National Rifle Association (NRA). To the contrary, I would say that Hobbes was right. We have given the Leviathan, our states, a monopoly on violence, because without it, life is, indeed, ‘nasty, brutish, and short’. It is understandable to fear the power of the state. But I am much more afraid and mistrusting of lethal weapons in the hands of my fellow irrational, emotional, maladjusted, and often inebriated citizens. I fear the people, more than the state, and the Tsarnaev brothers, if guilty of the crimes they are alleged to have committed, are a perfect illustration of why. The Rest of the world looks on in horror at the continuous stream of gory headlines of Americans killing themselves with guns.

Russia is a statistical and social aberration in that is has extremely high levels of homicide, suicide, and domestic abuse, even without private gun ownership. I shudder to think what would result from adding firearms to that mix.

-What can thе authorities can do to avert such terrorist acts? What should be done first: stricter immigration laws, stricter control in public places or something else?

M.S.:There is no one single magic bullet solution to ending ‘terrorism’. Terrorism is just a tactic. Acts of terror most often have political, ethnic, religious, and economic motivations and root causes that must be addressed. Context is everything.

Russia in the Chechen Republic under the leadership of Ramzan Kadyrov, for example, has seen remarkable success over the last decade in reducing terrorism and violence through a combination of autonomous government and self-rule in the Chechen ethnic Republic, a firm hand, the sizeable influx of federal funds bringing jobs and reconstruction, rebuilding education and universities, and promoting the institutions and moral guidance of traditional and moderate Sufi Islam. This model needs to be repeated and expanded throughout the Northern Caucasus.

The biggest things the United States can do to end terrorism is to bring an end to their global military Hegemony, stop their ‘Global War on Terror’, close their hundreds of military bases in the Middle East and bring their troops home, stop supporting, arming, and propping up brutal dictatorships, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, and generally stop interfering in the Islamic world and trying to impose their values and way of life on the people who live there. 

In short, in the words of the great US political thinker and philosopher, Noam Chomsky:  “Everybody's worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there's a really easy way: stop participating in it.”

- In American media the Chechens are often called "the Russians". However in Russia it's crucial to emphasize that these are two different nations. For he part of the American media, is it just a mistake or maybe it's being done so deliberately?

M.S.:Great ethnic Russians and Chechens are indeed two different ethnicities. However, as with the other 185 ethnicities in the rich tapestry that makes up the Russian Federation, their lives, history, culture, and blood have been intermingled for centuries. Russia is a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional country and has been – from the time of the Golden Horde, through the early Russian Empire, to the Romanov Empire, through the Soviet Union, and to the Russian Federation today. The Chechen people are a vital and intrinsic part of who and what we are as Russians. We would not be the same without them, and would be much less for their loss. The vast majority of the Chechen and Caucasian peoples are normal and peaceful citizens with a rich tradition, religion, and culture – concerned primarily with their personal economic situation, family, and communities – as we all are. We must not fall into the trap of stereotyping and blaming the whole for the despicable actions of an extremist few, often motivated to violence by Saudi-promoted foreign Wahhabism. That would lead to the disintegration of Russia.

Americans are as rule ignorant of other countries, cultures, religions, and peoples. The outside world doesn’t exist for them. They don’t understand the difference between Russians (Russki) and Russians, (Rossisski), nor how important Russia’s varied ethnicities are for who and what we are.  We must not become like them. We cannot claim that Chechnya or any other ethnic republic is part of Russia, but then try to disown and keep a distance from them when it is inconvenient. Chechens are Russians (rossisski) and Russians are Chechen. And we should be proud of that. Russians are many and one.

Depuis la fin de l’URSS, l’un des mythes fondateurs de la politique étrangère euro-américaine envers la Russie se base sur la situation dans le Caucase. Dès 1994, l’état russe fait face à une rébellion armée qui prône l’indépendance et fera rapidement appel à des cohortes de mercenaires étrangers pour mener cette soi-disant guerre d’indépendance de Tchétchénie. Rapidement, le conflit se transformera en une guerre religieuse sous la pression notamment de ces mercenaires islamistes qui tenteront d’étendre le conflit à tout le Caucase pour y instaurer un califat régional.

Dès le début des opérations militaires russes dans le Caucase visant à rétablir l’ordre et empêcher une partition du pays grâce à une aide extérieure, la Russie a subi une pression médiatique, morale et politique sans précédent. Le Main Stream médiatique occidental  n’a  jamais cessé de nous présenter les combattant islamistes du Caucase comme des soldats de la liberté, luttant pour une hypothétique indépendance ou encore pour  la survie de cultures menacées, qui comme on peut le constater en 2013, bien longtemps après, n'ont jamais été menacées. La Russie, qui fait face au terrorisme de l’internationale Djihadiste et ses soutiens principaux à l’étranger (que ce soit au sein de pays du golfe, de la Turquie ou de certaines puissances occidentales) n’a que trop rarement bénéficié de la compassion ou du soutien des pays occidentaux.

L’Amérique dans cette pression à l’encontre de la Russie, porte une responsabilité très importante en tant que leader économique, politique et moral de la communauté des états occidentaux.

A titre d’exemple, le principal site de propagande antirusse du Caucase qui prend la défense de terroristes tel que Dokou Umarov (dont le mouvement est classé comme terroriste par l’ONU) et qui justifie les attentats contre l’état russe aurait vraisemblablement été fondé par entre autre le département d’état américain. Eric Draitser rappelait récemment que de nombreuses ONG opèrent dans le Caucase via un soutien financier américain direct et soutiennent officiellement le séparatisme dans cette région, devenant ainsi indirectement (involontairement?) les complices des terroristes qui opèrent dans cette région du globe.

Dans l'affaire de Boston, on a évidemment beaucoup parlé des deux frères Tsarnaïev, et la presse vient de révéler que la Russie avait demandé au FBI d’enquêter sur l’un d’entre eux, leur mère assurant même qu’ils étaient sous contrôle étroit des services américains. On ne peut que s’étonner que nos commentateurs nationaux, si prompts à accuser le FSB de tous les complots possibles et imaginables lorsque surviennent des attentas en Russie se refusent à l’évocation de théories identiques en ce qui concerne la situation en Amérique.

A un an des olympiades de Sotchi la situation dans le Caucase semble pourtant bien plus calme que l’on ne pouvait le croire et ce malgré l’instabilité soutenue au Daguestan. C’est dans ce contexte que les attentats de Boston sont sans doute le plus grand service que les terroristes pouvaient rendre à la Russie. En l’espace de quelques jours, les terroristes du Caucase ne sont plus, et ne seront sans doute jamais plus, présentés comme des combattants de la liberté mais comme ce qu’ils sont: des criminels. Le FBI du reste est déjà en train de chercher de potentielles pistes pour voir si les deux frères Tsarnaïev n’étaient pas en lien avec l’émir du Caucase Dokou Umarov ce qui, si cela s’avérait vrai, confirmerait totalement les affirmations et donc la position de la Russie sur le Caucase.

Mais le changement lexical n’est sans doute pas suffisant, il devrait aussi s’accompagner d’un changement de politique puisque pendant que les citoyens américains pleurent leurs proches tués ou meurtris, le département d’état américain vient d’annoncer la hausse de l’aide militaire à la rébellion Syrienne, dont les éléments les plus radicaux pourtant de poster une vidéo à destination du président Obama pour lui rappeler qu’ils sont tous des "Oussama Bin-Laden".

Aymeric Chauprade rappelle que "l’État profond américain est allié de l’islamisme depuis les années 70 et a soutenu et utilisé celui-ci partout où il pouvait déstabiliser l’Europe, la Russie, la Chine… Dans les années 90, la CIA soutient l’islamisme tchétchène et les musulmans les plus radicaux dans le Caucase, comme elle soutient les Djihadistes en Bosnie, au Kosovo, en Libye, dans le Sahel, en Syrie". Il rappelle également que "Au début des années 2000, Dhokhar et Tamerlan sont accueillis à bras ouverts avec le statut de réfugié politique aux États-Unis. On s’émerveille sur ces bons immigrés qui veulent devenir de bons américains. On leur accorde des bourses".

On aimerait désormais que les bonnes conclusions soient tirées par les stratèges américains. Comme le suggère Gordon Hahn, expert du Centre d'études stratégiques et internationales: "Même si l'attentat de Boston n'est pas lié à la région et que l'inspiration est d'ordre idéologique, il est temps de renforcer la coopération avec la Russie et d'écouter Poutine".

Le peuple américain vient donc de découvrir à toute petite échelle ce que les Syriens vivent tous les jours depuis prés de deux ans et ce que les russes continuent de subir depuis la fin des années 90. Curieusement (?) les acteurs qui ont le plus contribué à la guerre contre l’Etat russe et facilité l’Islamisation du Caucase (et donc indirectement le terrorisme) sont les mêmes qui sont à la pointe de la lutte contre l’État Syrien aujourd’hui. Une guerre en Syrie qui pourrait et devrait du reste entrainer une explosion du terrorisme dans de nombreux pays si les combattants de plus de 50 nationalités y combattant déjà décidaient de rentrer mener le Jihad dans leurs pays respectifs et adoptifs, en France notamment.

Les victimes civiles américaines, russes ou syriennes sont les victimes d’un seul et même fléau et d’une politique étrangère incohérente du "deux poids deux mesures" qui non seulement empêche l’établissement de relations internationales saines mais permet aussi directement au terrorisme de proliférer.

Opname politieradio bewijst dat autoriteiten liegen over niet geëxplodeerde bommen

Reguliere media weigeren foto's, opnamen en ooggetuigen te publiceren

De media weigeren o.a. deze foto te laten zien, waaruit blijkt dat tenminste 2 verdachten vrijwel zeker lid waren van de private militaire firma Craft International, een soort elite 'Blackwater'.

De Saudische student die volgens onafhankelijke bronnen vrijwel onmiddellijk in verband werd gebracht met de bomaanslagen op de marathon in Boston wordt vanwege ' nationale veiligheidsredenen' volgende week de VS uitgezet. Deze zeer ongewone stap, die pal komt na een spoedgesprek tussen president Obama en de Saudische minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Saud al-Faisal, doet critici vermoeden dat Obama hiermee probeert te verhullen dat de daders inderdaad uit Arabische- en moslimkringen afkomstig zijn.

Autoriteiten en media ontkennen foto's, opnamen en ooggetuigen

Nadat er gisteren foto's op het internet verschenen waarop een aantal verdachten met donker getinte huid met grote rugzakken tussen de toeschouwers van de marathon in Boston zijn te zien, proberen de autoriteiten, de FBI en de media de schade zoveel mogelijk te beperken door alle linken te ontkennen. Ook CNN kwam plotseling terug op het eerdere bericht dat er een 'donker getinte' man zou zijn gearresteerd.

Daarnaast werd de voorspelling van de aanslagen in de cartoonserie Family Guy door veel media onterecht als 'hoax' gekwalificeerd. Ooggetuigen die verklaarden dat er pal voor de aanslagen werd omgeroepen dat er een (bom)oefening werd gehouden werden glashard tegengesproken, alsmede ook het feit dat er later nog 3 tot 5 onontplofte bommen zouden zijn gevonden, iets wat duidelijk blijkt uit een opname afkomstig van een politieradio.(2)

Tevens weigeren de reguliere media de foto's met de verdachten aan het grote publiek te laten zien. Sommige gefotografeerde mannen lijken uit het Midden Oosten te komen, en twee van hen aan de hand van emblemen op hun zwarte rugzakken en petten vrijwel zeker geïdentificeerd als medewerkers van de private militaire/beveiligingsfirma Craft International. Na onderzoek bleek dat de geëxplodeerde bommen inderdaad in zwarte rugzakken hebben gezeten. (3)

Uitzetting na spoedgesprek Obama en Saudische minister

Volgens terrorisme expert Steve Emerson zal de 20 jarige uit Saudi Arabië afkomstige Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi zo snel mogelijk worden gedeporteerd. Alharbi, die met brandwonden aan zijn handen in een ziekenhuis werd opgenomen, kreeg daar bewaking en werd later bezocht door de Saudische diplomaat Azzam bin Abdel Karim. Later werd zijn appartement door de autoriteiten onderzocht.

Het besluit de student het land uit te zetten volgde kort na een niet gepland gesprek tussen president Obama en de Saudische minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Saud al-Faisal, gisterenmiddag in het Witte Huis. 'Dit is zeer opmerkelijk,' aldus Emerson. 'Burgers van Saudi Arabië worden niet gearresteerd maar gedeporteerd, omdat de regering de Saudi's niet voor schut wil zetten en hen te vriend wil houden.'

Bovendien werd een wel geplande bijeenkomst voor de pers tussen minister van Buitenlandse Zaken John Kerry en minister Faisal plotseling gecancelled omdat Kerry 'moe' zou zijn. Associated Press journalist Patrick Ventrell waagde het openlijk aan deze verklaring te twijfelen. 'Verwacht u echt dat wij geloven dat dit de echte reden is?' vroeg hij aan de woordvoerder van het Witte Huis, die duidelijk moeite had om uit zijn woorden te komen.

Al Qaeda

De 20 jarige Alharbi behoort bij een invloedrijke Saudische clan die al sinds de jaren '90 tal van Al Qaeda leden herbergt. De BBC berichtte bijvoorbeeld dat Khaled Alharbi getrouwd was met een dochter van Al Qaeda's nummer 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri. Ook zou hij samen met Bin Laden in een video te zien zijn geweest waarin zij de aanslagen van 9/11 prezen.

Gezien het feit dat de regering Obama al meer dan een half miljard dollar en grote hoeveelheden wapens heeft gegeven aan de rebellen van het Free Syrian Army, dat openlijk heeft toegegeven door Al Qaeda te worden geleid, zou het nieuws dat één van deze militanten een aanslag op Amerikaanse bodem heeft gepleegd extreem schadelijk voor de president zijn.

'Obama verbergt link met Saudi Arabië'

De bekende conservatieve radiopresentator Michael Savage kwam gisteren daarom met de theorie op de proppen dat de politie in Boston door de regering Obama en de FBI het bevel heeft gekregen een geplande persconferentie te annuleren, omdat de Saudische minister zou hebben geëist dat de verdachte niet wordt gearresteerd maar het land wordt uitgezet.

Als later blijkt dat de regering Obama inderdaad opnieuw probeert een link tussen terreuraanslagen en Arabische moslims te verbergen, dan is dit schandaal nog vele malen groter dan het Benghazi debacle. Obama probeerde toen maandenlang te ontkennen en te verhullen dat moslimextremisten verantwoordelijk waren voor de dood van onder andere de Amerikaanse ambassadeur, omdat de via Libië lopende geheime wapenleveranties van de CIA aan Al Qaeda in Syrië anders aan het licht hadden kunnen komen.
