Beste vrienden

Hiermede nodigen wij u uit op de conferentie ‘Syrië anders bekeken’ van de Mediawerkgroep Syrië op zaterdag 26 mei 2012 van 13.30 tot 18 uur in de zaal van de Sint-Niklaaskerk, Steenstraat 44 te 1000 Brussel (vlakbij de Grote Markt).

Priester Daniël Maes, norbertijn van Postel en afkomstig uit Arendonk, draagt zorg voor de mannenvleugel in het zesde eeuwse klooster Mar Yakub in Qâra, gelegen op 90 kilometer van Damascus. Hij is er ook verantwoordelijk voor het eerste seminarie van de katholieke priesteropleiding. Door vele contacten ter plaatse kreeg priester Maes het voorbije jaar de unieke kans om vast te stellen wat er werkelijk gaande is in Syrië. Hij zal ons daarover uitvoering informeren.

Eveneens krijgen we een overzicht van de actuele geschiedenis van Syrië door historicus Bahar Kimyongür en een recent reisverslag door journalist Kris Janssen.

Op het programma staan nieuwe video’s, foto’s, muziek en een gezellig samenzijn met een babbel en een drankje.

Als u wilt weten wat er zich werkelijk het voorbije jaar afspeelde in Syrië, loop dan gewoon even langs en noteer nu reeds 26 mei 2012 in uw agenda. En breng gerust een aantal vrienden mee. Tot dan!

Nous voulons vous inviter à une conférence ‘Syrie autre regard’ du Groupe-Média Syrie. L’événement aura lieu le samedi 26 mai 2012 dans la salle de l’église Saint-Nicolas, Rue de Pierre 44, 1000 Brussel (tout près de la Grande Place). Et ça de 13.30 h à 18.00 h. Prêtre Daniël Maes, Norbertin de l’abbaye de Postel et originaire de Arendonk, donnera un exposé sur la situation actuelle en Syrie. Daniël Maes prend soin de la section masculine du monastère Mar-Yacub (6iéme siècle) à Qâra, à une 90 kilomètres de Damascus. Il est aussi le responsable pour le premier séminaire catholique de la Syrie. Par ses nombreux contacts sur place, ce prêtre a eu l’unique occasion de constater ce qui se passe vraiment en Syrie. C’est un témoin de première main. Il nous en informera d’une manière détaillée.

Prévus également: un aperçu de l’histoire actuelle de la Syrie par l’historien Bahar Kimyongür et un reportage de voyage du journaliste Kris Janssen.

Sur le programme aussi des vidéos, des fotos, de la musique… Et tout cela dans une atmosphère de convivialité (boisson et bavarde).

Si vous voulez vraiment savoir ce qui s’est passé vraiment en Syrië l’année passée, n’hésitez pas et rejoignez nous le 26 mai. Et notez déjà cette date dans votre agenda. Amenez sûrement quelques amis. A bientôt donc!

Dear Sir, Madam,

Priest Daniel Maes from Arendonk, Norbertine monk at Postel Abbey, is in charge of men’s quarters at the 6thC monastery in Mar Yakub at Qara, 90 kilometres from Damascus. He is also responsible for the first seminary at the Catholic seminary. Continually communicating with locals, priest Maes is uniquely in the position to know what is really going on in Syria and will inform the public.

The public part of the meeting, from 13:30 to 18:00 p.m., offers beside the presentation of priest Maes, an overview of Syria’s contemporary history by historian Bahar Kimyongür and a recent inside report by journalist Kris Janssen. The programme includes new footage and photos as well as music and an opportunity to socialize and share a drink.

If you are interested in what is really going on in Syria from last year onwards, just block 26 May 2012 in your diary, walk in and feel free to bring your friends. Until then!

Assad’s Motives for Claiming Al-Qaeda Involvement with Syrian Rebels

Whenever you see something in the mainstream media, it’s always a good idea to ask yourself, “who benefits” from the situation and how it is portrayed. Besides the damning evidence Israel was directly involved ^[2] in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, that question is why I’m highly skeptical about the terrorist network, Al-Qaeda.

Al-Qaeda’s actions appear to benefit (perceived) Jewish interests and the hostile elite within Anglosphere much more than it benefits the Muslims it claims to represent. If anything, Al-Qaeda seems to act against the interests of Arab Muslims (as well as white people).

So when I heard Gaddafi’s claim ^[3] that, “al-Qaeda is behind the Libyan uprising,” last year, I dismissed it as Gaddafi making a very ineffective, naïve, and embarrassing appeal to those in the West (1). Given his character and history, I wouldn’t have put it past him.

Now Assad’s government in Syria is also claiming Al-Qaeda is playing a role ^[4] in the violence aimed at overthrowing the Syrian government. This, and my better grounding in the global political situation (especially concerning Russia) made me reflect more on the situation.

I’ve come to suspect two things. First, that, Al-Qaeda operatives probably were involved in overthrowing Gaddafi’s government and are currently involved in the attempt to overthrow the Syrian government. To what extent, I don’t know, but this would make a lot of sense if Al-Qaeda is actually an Israeli-Neocon front group or is somehow bribed into serving their interests. Second, that instead of a poorly thought-out appeal to the West, claiming Al-Qaeda is involved in the rebel’s terrorism may actually be very smart political positioning – at least in Assad’s case. Let me explain.

By claiming Al-Qaeda is involved with but not necessarily the only group behind the rebels, Syria leaves room for its allies, namely Russia, to strike a deal with Anglosphere that allows the West a way to save face if it backs down from supporting the overthrow of Assad’s government.

If a deal cannot be struck, the Assad government has not claimed that Al-Qaeda is exclusively behind the rebellion and therefore can still point the finger at Western governments (i.e. the United States, Israel, and the U.K.). Such an accusation may be more powerful than you would think given the West’s long track record of intervention in the Middle East. If promoted enough by allies like Russia and China, exposing Western involvement in the violent terrorism in Syria could critically undermine Anglosphere’s ever-decreasing credibility on Middle Eastern affairs and threaten to unite most of the world in anger against the primary culprits—America, Israel, and the U.K.—who are already growing more and more isolated on the international political plain.

In an admittedly unlikely scenario, it’s even possible that bringing captured Al-Qaeda operatives into the international limelight ^[5] could expose the unseemly connections between Al-Qaeda and the governments and groups who actually run and/or support it.

Whoever runs Al-Qaeda and whatever role it is really playing, I think the motive for claiming Al-Qaeda involvement in the conflict is primarily to leave options open for political maneuvering by allies like Russia that have the power to dissuade Anglosphere from further pursuing Syrian regime change. In any case, there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye, and it behooves us to read between the lines and ask, “why is this being said,” and “who benefits from this?”

Tout au long de l’année 2011, Robert Spieler a proposé aux lecteurs de Rivarol, l’hebdomadaire de l’opposition nationale et européenne, une série d’articles consacrés aux polémistes qui marquèrent l’histoire de la presse depuis la Révolution française, jusqu’au milieu du XXe siècle. Il reprend ainsi le travail effectué par Pierre Dominique dans son ouvrage publié au début des années 60 (et aujourd’hui épuisé) Les Polémistes français depuis 1789.

Ce Dictionnaire des polémistes rassemble tous ces articles. Vous retrouverez ici les grands noms qui, en leur temps, marquèrent les esprits. Ils n’hésitaient pas à dénoncer les puissants du moment. Beaucoup parmi eux payèrent très cher leur engagement.  Aujourd’hui, la liberté d’expression se heurte encore aux ukases du politiquement correct et, comme hier, des lois liberticides, beaucoup plus insidieuses sans doute, empêchent les vrais polémistes de s’exprimer…

Robert Spieler, ancien député, fondateur d’Alsace d’abord, Délégué général de la Nouvelle Droite Populaire, est aussi l’un des journalistes de l’hebdomadaire Rivarol. Chaque semaine il décortique avec délectation et cynisme l’actualité dans sa fameuse Chronique de la France asservie et résistante.
