Reuters lays groundwork for Western support of Al Qaeda terrorists in Russia's Caucasus region.

August 31, 2012 - With the US openly supporting, arming, and literally "cheering" for Al Qaeda in Syria, it should be no surprise that their support for Al Qaeda's other operations is now slowly revealing itself. For decades, brutal terrorist campaigns have been carried out in Russia by Al Qaeda's Caucasus Mountains faction, constituting the backbone of the so-called "Chechen rebels."

While there was a time the US feigned solidarity with the Russian government as it fought listed Al Qaeda affiliates carrying out attacks across the Caucasus Mountains in Russia's southern region, as well as attacks across the country including in Moscow itself, research reveals that the United States has been covertly backing these terrorists all along. Just as the US created, funded, armed, and directed Al Qaeda in the mountains of Afghanistan during the 1980's, they are to this day funding, arming, and directing Al Qaeda from Libya, to Syria, and in Russia.

US is Attempting to Undermine and Overrun the Russian Political Order

The US State Department has been recently exposed interfering heavily in Russian politics. From funding so-called "independent" election monitor GOLOS, who sought to write off recent elections as "stolen," to street protests led by US-funded opposition members who have been caught literally filing into the US embassy in Moscow, the US is clearly attempting to undermine and overrun the current political order in Russia. The recent "Pussy Riot" publicity stunt has also been arranged by US-funded opposition as well as fully leveraged by these organizations, their foreign sponsors, and the Western media.

While these so-called "soft-power" options are running their course, a more sinister plot is being prepared - one involving the resurgence of terrorism in Russia's Caucasus region, and sure to spill over into the rest of Russia. It is now revealed that many of the propaganda fronts acting as clearinghouses for the Chechen militants were in fact US subsidized.

Corporate Media Laying Groundwork for Renewed Terrorism

Just like in Syria, where foreign terrorists are fallaciously portrayed as indigenous, justified "pro-democracy" "freedom fighters," a similar narrative is being spun to whitewash terrorists operating in Russia's Caucasus Mountains. In Reuters' recent report, "Insight: Brutality, anger fuel jihad in Russia's Caucasus," readers are barraged by outright lies regarding the genesis and underlying cause of violence in the region.

Reading like a US State Department press release, we are told that Chechens are "sick of official corruption" and want change "like that seen in last year's Egyptian revolution." Reuters fails to acknowledge that "last year's revolution" has sprung this year's Muslim Brotherhood tyranny, already curbing civil liberties and muzzling criticism in the press at home, while supporting Wall Street and London adventures abroad. 

Like in Syria, where we are constantly reassured that the revolution "mostly" rejects the sectarian extremism that is demonstrably charging the violence, Reuters attempts to claim that while the violence in Russia seems "religious," most people reject the "Shairia law" that will inevitably be imposed by Al Qaeda. 

Likewise, we are introduced to Doku Umarov, who Reuters claims "leads an underground movement to create an Emirate across the Caucasus region." Reuters fails to mention that Umarov is listed by the United Nations as an associate of Al Qaeda. According to the UN:

Doku Umarov was directly involved in organizing a number of major terrorist acts: the capture of residential areas of the Vedenski and Urus-Martanovski districts of the Chechen Republic the Russian Federation (August 2002); the kidnapping of staff from the Office of the Public Prosecutor of the Chechen Republic (December 2002); and the bombings of the building housing the Department of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Republic of Ingushetia, in the city of Magas, and of two railway trains in Kislovodsk (September 2003). He was one of the main organizers of the raid on Ingushetia by militants on 22 June 2004, the sortie into Grozny on 21 August 2004, the hostage-taking in Beslan of 1-3 September 2004 and the terrorist attacks in Moscow metro stations on 29 March 2010.

Umarov, and the terrorists under his command, leading the so called "Jihad" Reuters is attempting to whitewash and spin, are unequivocally terrorists associated with Al Qaeda, and in no way "freedom fighters" - their cause and methods by no means justified in any manner.

The former currently supports US efforts to overthrow the Syrian government. The latter organization is currently backing the US State Department's recent PR ploy, "Pussy Riot."

Reuters does concede that Chechnya's Muslim faith has been transformed from traditional practices to Saudi-perverted teaching spread from madrases both abroad and now springing up across the Caucasus Mountains over the last 20 years. Coincidentally, Saudi Arabia had created as a joint effort with the US, Al Qaeda over the past 30 years. It is young men passing through these madrases, teaching this perverted revision of Islam, that keep the ranks topped off of the West's foreign legion, Al Qaeda.  

Reuters claims efforts by former-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to rebuild the region and relax measures put in place to rein in sectarian extremism were widely praised. The recent violence flaring up in the Caucasus region is explained by Reuters as the result of Vladimir Putin returning to the Russian presidency - and more specifically the result of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov "crushing all dissent." However, this sophomoric excuse ignores the fact that Kadyrov was actually president throughout Medvedev's "progressive" term in office, and assumes that readers are simplistic enough to believe President Putin's 4 months in office is long enough to so drastically upturn Chechnya's political landscape, that it would spur people to already take up arms and suicide-bombing belts.

Reuters attempts to sell the idea that armed militants are rising up against the government, and the idea it attempts to leave readers with is that people are turning to terrorism for a lack of a better alternative. Paradoxically, Reuters writes in the same report that these terrorists are also targeting indigenous Muslim sects, because, Reuters claims, they are "state-backed." In reality, this Al Qaeda led militancy is attempting to carve out the entire Caucasus region by either indoctrinating or killing off the local inhabitants - which is in essence a form of US-Saudi-backed imperialism on par with anything the rebels accuse Russia of.

The Joining US State Department-funded Opposition with US-Saudi-armed Terrorists

In reality, the West is opposed to President Putin's return to office. The West is also opposed to providing him with the stability to advance Russia socially, economically, and geopolitically outside the Wall Street-London consensus. Therefore, it has been determined that foreign-armed and directed mercenary militancy, a much more realistic explanation for the sudden surge in violence, will be used to ensure President Putin rules over a destabilized nation instead.

The tool of choice, as it has been since the 1980's in Afghanistan, are US-Saudi-funded terrorists indoctrinated with sectarian extremism, armed to the teeth, and unleashed to spread regression and destruction against all targets of Western foreign policy.

While US-backed opposition groups attempt to lay the groundwork for demonizing President Putin and the current Russian political order in Moscow, Washington is working diligently to raise a militant threat that can throw off balance Russia's superior security apparatus in a very similar fashion prescribed by US policy makers in Brookings Institution's "Which Path to Persia?" report in regards to Iran.

Providing Russia with a sizable militant threat inside its borders also blunts Russia's ability to thwart the West's hegemonic campaigns elsewhere - such as in Syria, against Iran, and throughout Central Asia. Ideally, linking the militancy to US-backed protesters in Moscow, and portraying it as a singular "political uprising" as it has done in Syria is the ultimate goal, opening the door for wider covert operations to be carried out across the entire country, as well as justification for sanctions and other punitive measures to be taken.

The trick left to professional propagandists like Reuters, CNN, BBC, and others, is to somehow mesh the US State Department's stable of proxies in Moscow with the militancy in Chechnya. By adopting the same language and alleged causes of  fighting "corruption" and  "oppression," already the media is attempting to entwine both movements, even though the two are in no way related aside from their foreign backing.

Clearing a Path for the Hordes: From Libya to the Caucasus Mountains.

The creation of a united front against Iran was the immediate goal of the Arab Spring. It has left the Arab World in disarray and has outright toppled nationalist governments, replacing them with pliable Western proxies. Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt are run by direct proxies of US foreign policy, while Syria, Lebanon, and Iran are left fighting foreign terrorists fueled by emerging sectarian extremist governments across the region.

Should Syria or Iran, or both fall to Western-backed terrorist brigades, and if the West manages to use Kurds across Turkey and northern Iraq to create a conduit (in red), a path will be cleared into Russia's restive Caucasus Mountains and onto Moscow itself.  Nations standing in the way of this horde, including Turkey and Georgia, risk being carved up or drawn into protracted, costly conflict. Other nations at grave risk from Western-backed terrorism include Algeria, Pakistan, and China.

Libya has become a safe-haven for Al Qaeda, a nation-sized terrorist encampment funneling NATO weapons, cash, and trained fighters to the borders of the West's enemies. Syria is facing what is essentially a military invasion led by Libyan terrorists, facilitated by NATO, specifically Turkey, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), specifically Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Should Syria or Iran, or both collapse, and the West succeeds in carving out a Kurdish region controlled by militants armed and loyal to its cause, militants from across the Arab World can be trained from Mali and Libya, to Syria and Kurdistan, with weapons and supplies from everywhere in between being directed together, up through the Caucasus Mountains and into Russia.

Turkey of course would be the big loser, being carved up and added as part of Kurdistan to form part of the conduit - a gambit current Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is both aware of and maliciously indifferent to - to the perceived benefit of his own advancement within the Wall Street-London elite, and to the collective detriment of Turkey and its foreseeable future.  

While it seems unfathomable that such a gambit can be conceived let alone executed, it should be remembered that the Arab Spring and the subsequent violent subversion of Syria was planned as far back as 2007-2008, with the indirect consequence of undermining Iran as the ultimate objective. That this itself is part of a grander strategy originating from machinations hatched as far back as 1991, orchestrated by US policy makers who compare geopolitics and the world map to a "Grand Chessboard," is fairly easy to comprehend.

There is no better way to control the vast resources, geography, and populations of Eurasia and beyond than granting everything from North Africa, the Middle East, and Eurasia to ignorant, indoctrinated, medieval zealots led by duplicitous co-conspirators who will wheel-and-deal with the corporate-financiers of the West while keeping their own populations in fear and darkness - simultaneously, perpetuating Al Qaeda throughout the developing world allows the West to impose draconian repressive measures at home, stifling true political and economic independence and self-determination across their own populations.

The result is global hegemony uncontested both at home and abroad, with a world population subjected to the machinations and whims of a scientific dictatorship rooted in Hilterian eugenics and Malthusian ideology.

De reële rente (nominaal min inflatie) die men op zijn spaargeld ontvangt, is nu al een hele tijd negatief. Een gemiddelde van 2% (premie inbegrepen) is nu courant en soms liggen de percentages al lager dan dat. De mogelijkheid dat we naar een nultarief gaan, is dan ook niet ondenkbaar, zeker als de ECB (Europese Centrale Bank) donderdag de termijnrente van 0,5%  nu naar een nog lager niveau  zal laten zakken.

De argumentatie van de ECB en van de kapitaalselite is officieel dat men door een verlaging van de rente het volume aan spaargeld wil verminderen bij de gezinnen, door die aan te zetten tot consumptie en investering. Met de hoop dat dit een economische relance zal aanwakkeren voor de kapitaalselite.

Maar de propaganda die het systeem hanteert om het sparen op die manier te ontmoedigen - en die in haar argumentatie een collectieve burgerplicht sugereert (het opdrijven van consumptie zal voor economische relance zorgen en zo werkgelegenheid scheppen) - is in feite bedoeld als rookgordijn waarachter zich grote kapitaalsbelangen verschuilen. En die kapitaalsbelangen worden gecoördineerd en georchestreerd vanuit de nieuwe hoofdkwartieren van de transnationale Europese instellingen, de "EU".

Met name de ECB die nieuwe tegoeden aan banken distribueert en dat aan historisch lage kosten (zie rentepeil). Op dit ogenblik kunnen banken tegen 0,5% rente geld ontlenen bij de ECB. Het is dus evident dat banken niet geneigd zijn om voor het geld van hun spaarders meer te betalen dan voor nieuw gedrukt geld. Het nieuwe geld ligt zo voor het rapen.

De elites van het leenkapitaal plegen op die manier en gigantische rooftocht op de burger. Want terwijl u de financiële kapitalisten spaargeld in onderpand geeft, waarvoor men u in feite niks geeft aangezien de inflatie de rente overtreft, storten de banken dat geld de facto op de rekeningen van de ECB. De ECB leent op haar beurt dat geld (en het bijgedrukte geld waarvoor de fractie aan reëel geld als onderpand dient) dan opnieuw aan de banken. Maar nu dus tegen een tarief van 0,5% en binnenkort tegen een nog lager tarief.

De banken lenen dat geld dan weer uit, maar deze keer helemaal niet aan het Sinterklaastarief waarvoor zij het geleend hebben. Zo vraagt een bank al vlug tot 5% op een hypotheek op 20 jaar. En voor consumentenkrediet wordt op een middellange termijn van 2 tot 5 jaar al vlug 6% en meer aangerekend. En dat terwijl juist het aanzwengelen van consumptie als argument dient om spaarders lage en negatieve rentes te geven.

Zo ziet u maar dat de "argumenten" van het leenkapitaal moeten gezien worden als wat ze zijn: propagandapraat.

De massa geld die banken op deze manier gratis ter beschikking krijgen, kan men dan verder nog lucratiever aanwenden. Bijvoorbeeld door extra geld van de ECB te lenen en dat geld daarna te beleggen in Europese probleemlanden. Daar kan men de winst maximaliseren, want 'de markten' krijgen er zoals geweten zeer hoge rentes. De Duitse (en andere) banken hebben voordien op deze manier een zeepbel in bepaalde lidstaten gevormd. Zij hebben geld aan landen geleend die daarmee een hypotheek op hun toekomst hebben genomen.

En nu krijgen diezelfde kapitalisten - naast miljarden aan staatsgeld waarmee ze hun verliezen kunnen dekken - ook nog eens gigantische bedragen toegestopt van de Europese Centrale Bank tegen een belachelijke rentevoet, zodat ze weer superwinsten op de kap van de spaarders kunnen maken! Twee keer bingo: de spaarders en burgers mogen collectief de verliezen (of beter gezegd: de verduisterde winsten) van de banken betalen en nu mogen ze ook hun spaargeld aan dumpingprijzen uitlenen aan diezelfde banken.

Waar het dus eigenlijk op neerkomt, is het volgende: de Europese transnationale elite heeft de belasting van burgers door de staat overgenomen in de vorm van leenkapitaal. Het zijn privébedrijven (banken) die de burgers nu belasten via een sluipweg. Dit door het laten betalen van bankenschulden door de burger. En vervolgens door het confisceren van geld door een lagere vergoeding van spaargeld te betalen dan het peil van de inflatie.

En dat allemaal georganiseerd vanuit en in naam van een niet bestaande superstaat: de Europese Unie. Het conglomeraat van het leenkapitaal en de transnationale elite uit de lidstaten.

I propri valori non sono assoluti

Ciao, sono Massimo Fini, sono uno scrittore e giornalista. In Siria si riproduce esattamente la situazione libica. C’è effettivamente un malcontento in Siria dopo tanti anni di dittatura di Assad, ma sono stati mandati, come sono stati mandati in Libia, agenti provocatori inglesi, francesi, fornite le armi a questi rivoltosi e può finire più o meno come è finita in Libia, dove solo un dittatore poteva tenere insieme realtà tribali infinite, realtà tribali religiose, etniche completamente diverse, è un po’ come era in Iraq con Saddam, perché l’Iraq è stata un’invenzione cervellotica degli inglesi, hanno messo insieme tre comunità che non avevano niente a che vedere tra di loro: curdi, sunniti e sciiti e quindi solo un potere molto forte, in questo caso particolarmente sanguinario.Adesso c’è una lotta tra sunniti e sciiti. A parte il fatto che gli americani hanno regalato parte dell’Iraq all’Iran, sono la maggioranza degli sciiti, contraddicendo una politica di 25 anni anti-iraniana. Lo schema è lo stesso e credo che l’esito sarà più o meno lo stesso. L’attacco alla Siria ha un interesse maggiore per il cosiddetto Occidente perché è un preludio all’attacco all’Iran che nella visione occidentale, non si capisce bene perché, è il capostipite dell’asse del male, semplicemente perché è un modo diverso, un mondo diverso, c’è una teocrazia che non è una democrazia, ma non è neanche una dittatura.

 
Per quanto riguarda le manifestazioni che in questi giorni si susseguono, questo documentario (su Maometto, ndr) è semplicemente una scintilla, un pretesto. C’è in giro, ed è ovvio, un odio antiamericano per le ingerenze continue e costanti dell’America e di tutto l’Occidente. In realtà la cosa non è di oggi, è circa un secolo che l’Occidente si inserisce in quel mondo. Dopo gli attentati terroristici a Londra, il sindaco di Londra che si chiamava Livingstone “il Rosso”, molto amato dai suoi cittadini dice: “Sì, gli attentati terroristici sono una cosa terribile, inaccettabile, ma se la Gran Bretagna avesse dovuto subire 100 anni di ingerenze dal mondo musulmano, credo che io sarei un terrorista britannico”.
Certamente il problema è che continuamente, sia dal punto di vista proprio militare che economico - perché naturalmente abbiamo interessi etc., - ma anche dal punto di vista ideologico continuiamo a premere su questo mondo, perché si omologhi al nostro. La questione della donna è esemplare, si vorrebbe che la donna musulmana diventasse come quella occidentale. Ora il mondo musulmano si regge su un particolare ruolo della donna, è la loro storia, potranno cambiarla, forse, ma devono cambiarsela loro, non noi imporgliela, è come se un ipotetico Ayatollah venisse qui e dicesse: “Voi non avete nessun rispetto della dignità della donna, perché la esibite a pezzi e bocconi in pubblicità, nei film etc., la vendete come quarti di bue in macelleria”, noi gli diremmo: “Caro Ayatollah, il problema, ammesso che sia un problema, ce lo risolviamo noi, non sei tu che devi venire a insegnarcelo!”.
Oltre al fatto delle armi, degli interessi, parlo per l’Occidente in buonafede, c’è questa convinzione di avere i valori migliori, i valori assoluti, che abbiamo non solo il diritto, ma il dovere di portare agli altri mondi, ai mondi altri, diversi dal nostro, che è una concezione assolutamente totalitaria, tanto più grave perché viene da un mondo che si dice e si crede liberale – democratico. E’ molto ingenuo pensare che i propri valori, perché propri, sono assoluti e i migliori, anche un Nuer del sud del Sudan potrebbe dire la stessa cosa… C’è questa continua invadenza del mondo occidentale nei mondi altri, l’Africa in questo modo è stata distrutta perché i neri africani avevano culture molto raffinate, belle, ma non essendo monoteisti, erano anche fragili da un certo punto di vista, l’Islam che ha una cultura molto forte cerca di resistere.

Questo lo dico, non ho nessuna particolare simpatia per la cupa religione musulmana, non ho simpatia per nessuna delle tre grandi religioni monoteiste, però questi hanno una forza che i neri del centro Africa non avevano e quindi tentano di resistere.

Quindi quali potrebbero essere i tempi o cosa dovrebbe succedere? Lo diceva persino Luttwak, giornalista americano molto vicino alla CIA, in un’intervista alla stampa dell’altro giorno che gli occidentali dovrebbero smetterla di ingerirsi nelle vicende del mondo arabo – musulmano. Poi c’è la vicenda gravissima dell’Afghanistan che non viene quasi considerata, perché gli afgani sono sì musulmani, ma non sono né arabi, né cristiani, né ebrei, quindi se ne può fare carne di porco. L’altro giorno dei droni hanno scambiato delle donne che stavano raccogliendo nel bosco, nella foresta, mi pare che stessero raccogliendo pinoli, per un gruppo di talebani. Hanno sparato e ne hanno uccise 13, noi siamo i grandi difensori della dignità della donna, non mi sembra un buon modo per difendere la donna, poi questo avviene perché siamo diventati talmente vigliacchi che non mandiamo fuori le truppe di terra, lì la cosa è avvenuta perché c’è un attacco talebano a un avamposto, mandiamo fuori gli aerei e sempre più spesso i droni che sono aerei senza pilota, senza equipaggio, comandati a 10 mila chilometri di distanza e facciamo queste cose.

Tu hai il petrolio, io lo voglio!

Per gli afgani questo modo di combattere è talmente vigliacco che per loro è inconcepibile e quindi ha compattato intorno ai talebani anche gente che talebana non era affatto, per cui sono diventati moltissimi, oggi praticamente quasi tutto il popolo afgano. Questo modo di combattere è una delle ragioni per cui l’Occidente sta perdendo la guerra in Afghanistan.
C’è un bel libro di Pellizzari che si intitola “La battaglia al tempo delle more” che racconta molto bene - lui è stato sul campo a lungo dal 1974 inviato de “Il Messaggero” come questa mentalità occidentale si scontri con un’altra mentalità che è completamente diversa e che noi non riusciamo assolutamente a capire e è il motivo per cui tutti gli eserciti, anche più forti britannico, sovietico, adesso questo occidentale, poi finiscono per essere sconfitti, qui ci vorrà più tempo perché la sproporzione di armi tra i due schieramenti, questi hanno le armi, è un esercito robotico, ipertecnologico, ipersofisticato.
La mia generazione è costretta a rimpiangere tutto, anche la vecchia Unione Sovietica, nel senso che l’Unione Sovietica faceva da contraltare. Le due superpotenze in qualche maniera si paralizzavano a vicenda. Se voi notate dal 1989 da quando crolla l’impero sovietico, gli Stati Uniti e gli occidentali hanno inanellato 8 guerre, prima Guerra del Golfo, Bosnia, guerra alla Serbia, tra le più incomprensibili, almeno per noi europei, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, poi ancora Somalia attraverso l’Etiopia e poi la Libia, poi adesso si preparano a attaccare in qualche modo la Siria e poi come obiettivo finale c’è l’Iran.
C’è il fatto che essendo il mondo occidentale assolutamente in crisi, non solo economica, ma in crisi totale di valori, la guerra è da sempre uno dei modi per uscire da una crisi economica. L’industria bellica è un volano dell’economia, loro hanno bisogno di svuotare arsenali sulla pelle della gente, degli uomini, delle donne, dei bambini, non gliene frega assolutamente un cazzo alla cultura superiore. Quello che fa orrore in tutta questa faccenda è che se fosse una sana politica di potenza, dichiarata come tale: “Tu hai il petrolio, io lo voglio!” E’ sempre mascherata invece da principi etici, principi morali, è l’ipocrisia di queste guerre che secondo me è la cosa più ripugnante!
Noi facciamo la guerra con cattiva coscienza, non la dichiariamo, la chiamiamo in altro modo per azioni umanitarie, non credo che le persone ci caschino più. Questo è ciò che fanno le leadership occidentali, prendiamo l’Italia, c’è un art. 11 che è chiarissimo che noi ripudiamo la guerra, a meno che non sia di difesa, naturalmente, come è ovvio, com’è giusto e siamo in Afghanistan con 4.200 soldati, facciamo guerre di aggressione che non potremmo fare secondo Costituzione, ma la Costituzione è in realtà una carta straccia che si manipola come si vuole, che credo sia uno dei motivi della serpeggiante rivolta in Italia contro la politica.

La libertà ha un valore se si conquista con le proprie mani, la rivoluzione libica è fallita perché in realtà non l’hanno conquistata i rivoltosi, l’hanno conquistata i bombardieri Nato, nel caso della Siria se c’è una guerra civile, a un certo punto chi ha veramente l’appoggio della popolazione finisce per prevalere, quindi è una forma in realtà molto più democratica, se vogliamo, a un certo punto si assesta in qualche modo. Così non si assesta niente, cova sempre qualcosa sotto, è come è successo in Egitto, in Egitto c’era un’autentica rivolta popolare, è stata trasformata in un golpe militare, poi adesso è stato eletto questo fratello musulmano il quale però non è libero di muoversi, siccome l’esercito egiziano riceve finanziamenti enormi dagli Stati Uniti, è una specie di duarchia.
Se l’Egitto o la Tunisia o qualsiasi altro Paese di quell’area si sente musulmano, è musulmano, Finché questi non ci attaccano, non c’è nessuna ragione di attaccare, che poi è la teoria della guerra preventiva di Bush.

Comme dans bien d'autres pays, la droite en Angleterre a été amenée, plusieurs fois dans son Histoire, à devoir renaître de ses cendres. Particularité de la vie politique d'outre Manche, depuis le XVIIIe siècle ce fut le même parti, les "tories" étant devenus officiellement "parti conservateur", qui sut opérer en son sein le renouvellement nécessaire.

Cette droite avait su se maintenir face aux "whigs", organisateurs de la Glorieuse Révolution de 1688, puis de l'arrivée de la dynastie de Hanovre en 1714. Elle avait su faire face à ces adversaires "de gauche", qui dominèrent le parlement et le gouvernement tout au long du XVIIIe siècle. Et elle les a aujourd'hui encore surclassés.

Agréablement traduit, et réédité par les peines et soins des Éditions du Trident, le roman de Disraëli "Coningsby" nous en livre le secret.

Le rejet des horreurs de ce que nous appelons jacobinisme a toujours joué, à cet égard, le rôle central.

Cependant on doit mesurer d'abord, que les forces qui, en Grande Bretagne se sont opposées à la Révolution française, ne venaient pas toutes du conservatisme "officiel" et "historique".

Deux exemples l'illustrent. Leurs noms sont relativement connus, de ce côté-ci de la Manche, leur histoire l'est un peu moins.

Ainsi Edmund Burke (1729-1797) avait-il pris conscience, dès les journées d'octobre 1789, de la nature inacceptable de ce qui s'installait à Paris. Dans ses "Réflexions sur la révolution de France", publiées en 1790 (1)⇓ il dénonce avec lucidité la logique implacable des événements.

Or, il avait siégé aux Communes depuis 1765 en tant que "whig". Il avait soutenu les "insurgents" américains, etc. Il ne rompra officiellement avec son parti, dont il refuse les subsides, qu'en juin 1791. Dès lors, ce "vieux-whig" sera considéré plus tard comme le doctrinaire par excellence du conservatisme.

De même William Pitt "le Jeune", est présenté aujourd'hui, jusque sur le site officiel du 10 Downing Street, sous l'étiquette "tory". Mais celui qu'en France nous l'appelons "le second Pitt" était lui-même le fils d'un chef de gouvernement whig, William Pitt dit "l'Ancien". À son tour il devint Premier ministre sous le règne de George III, de 1782 à 1801, puis de 1804 à 1806. La mémoire républicaine l'exècre comme l'ennemi par excellence. La propagande des hommes de la Terreur désignait tous ses adversaires comme agents de "Pitt et Cobourg". (2)⇓

En fait il n'entra dans le conflit que contraint et forcé. Au départ, au cours des années 1780, cet adepte d'Adam Smith (3)⇓ poursuivait le but d'assainir les finances et de développer l'économie du pays. Quand il rompit avec la France révolutionnaire, le cabinet de Londres pensait que le conflit serait rapidement liquidé. On n'imaginait pas qu'il durerait plus de 20 ans.

Ainsi Pitt fut contraint à la guerre à partir de 1793 et la mena jusqu'à sa mort. Une partie de l'opinion anglaise, et particulièrement les "whigs" avaient applaudi aux événements de 1789. Mais c'est au lendemain de la mort du Roi que l'ensemble de l'opinion comprit que les accords resteraient impossibles avec les forces barbares qui s'étaient emparées du royaume des Lys. Dès le 24 janvier 1793, l'ambassadeur officieux (4)⇓ de la République est expulsé.

Voici donc un adversaire irréductible (5)⇓ de la Révolution française : doit-on le considérer comme un conservateur ? Le terme peut paraître encore prématuré. Et Jacques Chastenet souligne même que jamais au cours de sa carrière William Pitt ne s'est déclaré "tory". (6)⇓

Après 1815 les forces de droite s'étaient agrégées autour du vainqueur militaire de Napoléon (7)⇓ à Waterloo, Arthur de Wellesley devenu duc de Wellington. Son nom rassembleur tient lieu de programme. (8)⇓

Or, à partir des années 1830 tout change. Wellington ne reviendra plus, que d'une manière très brève, qui se traduira par un échec. Car quand, laminés en 1832 les tories tentent en 1834 un nouveau "manifeste" [Disraëli qualifie celui-ci de "Manifeste sans principes"], ils vont certes réapparaître techniquement, du seul fait de l'incompétence des whigs. Robert Peel pourra former un gouvernement minoritaire avec l'appui du roi. Mais la "Nouvelle Génération", [c'est le thème de "Coningsby"] cette "Jeune Angleterre" dont Disraëli et son ami Georges Smythe apparaîtront alors comme les figures de proue, considère, et le programme de 1834, et Robert Peele, lui-même comme dénués de principes et voués à l'échec.

Voici comment il les décrit :

"Cet homme politique éminent [Robert Peel] s’était malheureusement identifié, au début de sa carrière, avec un groupe qui, s’affublant du nom de tory, poursuivait une politique sans principes ou dont les principes s’opposaient radicalement à ceux qui guidèrent toujours les grands chefs de cet illustre et historique mouvement. Les principaux membres de cette confédération officielle ne se distinguaient par aucune des qualités propres à un homme d’État, par aucun des dons divins qui gouvernent les assemblées et mènent les conseils. Ils ne possédaient ni les qualités de l’orateur, ni les pensées profondes, ni l’aptitude aux trouvailles heureuses, ni la pénétration et la sagacité de l’esprit. Leurs vues politiques étaient pauvres et limitées. Toute leur énergie, ils la consacraient à s’efforcer d’acquérir une connaissance des affaires étrangères qui demeura pourtant inexacte et confuse ; ils étaient aussi mal documentés sur l’état réel de leur propre pays que les sauvages le sont sur la probabilité d’une éclipse." (9)⇓

[Il s'agit de la droite anglaise d'alors, qu'alliez-vous croire ?]

Jusque-là les deux partis dominants avaient représenté des factions parlementaires, elles-mêmes issues des forces sociales qui contrôlaient les sièges, en particulier ceux des "bourgs pourris. Au total 300 000 électeurs désignaient le parlement. Les Lords dominaient les Communes. Sans évoluer immédiatement vers le suffrage universel la réforme avait supprimé les circonscriptions fictives. Multipliant par trois le nombre des votants, elle allait permettre aux représentants des villes de submerger les défenseurs traditionnels de la propriété foncière et de la campagne anglaise.

Ceux-ci allient donc devoir combattre sous de nouvelles couleurs, en s'alliant avec de nouvelles forces. On peut dire qu'en grande partie Disraëli les ré-inventa. Exprimant ses idées dans des romans, ce vrai fondateur de la droite anglaise conte cette aventure dans ce "Coningsby".

Beaucoup de traits de cette société peuvent paraître désuets. On les découvre dès lors avec une pointe de nostalgie. Mais, une fois dégagé de cet aspect pittoresque et charmant, tout le reste s'en révèle furieusement actuel. Nous laissons à nos lecteurs le soin de le découvrir.

Des chercheurs allemands ont découvert récemment, dans la Forêt Noire, en Allemagne, un site funéraire celte datant du 7e siècle avant J.-C. Celui-ci aurait été disposé en fonction de la position de la Lune et des constellations de l’hémisphère nord : un calendrier lunaire, en quelque sorte.

Des archéologues du Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum de Mayence ont découvert à Magdalenenberg, dans la Forêt Noire (Allemagne), un tertre funéraire celte de plus de 100 mètres de longueur. Mais sa grande particularité est que les tombes qu’ils contient sont disposées autour d’une sépulture royale de façon à reproduire la position des constellations célestes visibles de l’hémisphère nord entre le solstice d’hiver et le solstice d’été.

Ainsi, contrairement au site anglais de Stonehenge, orienté vers le Soleil, celui de Magdalenenberg est orienté vers la Lune, lorsqu’elle occupe une certaine position : une configuration qui se reproduit tous les 18,6 années, et qui constitue la ‘pierre angulaire’ du calendrier celtique.

Grâce à un programme informatique spécial, le Dr. Allard Mees, du Römisch-Germanischen Zentralmuseum, a pu reconstruire les constellations observables durant l’ancienne période celtique, et en déduire que ce calendrier représentait le ciel du solstice d’été de l’année 618 avant J.-C., ce qui fait de ce site l’exemple le plus ancien et le plus complet de calendrier celtique orienté vers la Lune.
